Objective This presenting research is intended to shed a light on common and severe complications after receiving pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) and related influencing factors. In order to assess the clinical effect of PD, the author will also analyze different pathological categories of carcinomaofheadofpancreas and survival rate of patients who received PD.Methodology By collecting and analyzing clinical records of 62 patients who have received PD in past ten years, from February 2002 to February 2012, this presenting paper is intended to figure out if there is significant relationship between common complications and series of factors, including gender, age, chronic diseases, preoperative biochemical indicators, operation time, estimated amount of bleeding, blood transfusion, pathological types, histological grades and lymph node metastasis. In addition, the author wants to find the relationship between different pathological categories of carcinomaofheadofpancreas, the expansion degree and survival rate of patients after receiving PD.Results In 62 cases, incidence of the postoperative complications is 43.55%, The major complications are intra-abdominal infection 12 cases(19.35%), pancreatic fistula 7 cases(11.29%), delayed gastric emptying 6 cases(9.68%), wound dehiscence and infection 5 cases(8.06%), biliary fistula 5 cases(8.06%), intra-abdominal hemorrhage 2 cases(3.23%), postoperative death 1 case(1.61%).In the analysis of different influencing factors, the level of serum albumin is an importa-nt factor for postoperative pancreatic leakage, bile leakage and functional delayed gastric emptying(P<0.05); Operation duration, bile leakage, pancreatic leakage and peritoneal bleeding are statistical differences with postoperative abdominal infection(P<0.05).Out of 62 patients who received PD, 30 cases survived more than one year after the surgery(65.22%), 10 cases survived more than three years after the surgery(21.73%). In the pathological analysis, duct cell carcinoma took 83.87% of the total population; the author also found significant difference between grading and survival rate after one year(P<0.05).Conclusions 1. Carcinoma of head pancreatic for overall PD resection rate is 27.31%,in Ning Xia area;2. Duct cell carcinoma is the most common carcinomaofheadofpancreas category;3. Hypoaibuminemia could lead to higher incidence of postoperative pancreatic fistula;4.I n addition, the operation time, biliary fistula, pancreatic fistula and intra-abdominal hemorrhage play important roles in the occurrence of intra-abdominal infection.
