Small animal HIFU experimental platform is specifically designed for animal experiments with phased high intensity focused ultrasound. It’ll be very convenient to study the mechanism and verify the feasibility of HIFU on this platform. The platform provides variable ultrasound field parameters to meet the needs of different treatment technologies, providing the foundation for the optimization of treatment planning. In addition, small animal HIFU experimental platform has advantages of accurate focusing, handheld probe, small equipment size and inexpensive cost, which is very suitable for laboratory researches.The small animal HIFU platform was upgrade in this dissertation based on existing work in the laboratory. FPGA firmware was successfully implemented, which provides multiple channels of outputs with independently adjustable phase. Stable PC control software was developed, too. Experiments showed that small animals HIFU experimental platform was stable and easy to use, with adequate phase shifting and timing performance.An ultrasound sound power automatic measurement system and an ultrasound sound field distribution automatic measurement system were developed in this dissertation. The ultrasound sound power automatic measurement system can automatically measure the work condition and electric-acoustic parameters of the transducer and the amplifier in different driving voltages. The sound field distribution automatic measurement system can scan the three-dimensional sound field in arbitrary paths. For time-consuming problem of the three-dimensional scanning, a fast scanning method was present to reduce the scanning time, and feasibility was verified theoretically.The sound field characteristics of the small animal HIFU experimental platform were measured with the measurement system. The measured parameters included the electroacoustic convert efficiency, the sound field distribution, the relationship between the control voltage and the sound intensity and the capability of focus shifting, which could provide a basis for quantitative experiments of the small animal HIFU platform and the direction for the subsequent improvement of the platform.
