Background and Aims:This study aimed to observe the different expression levels of the protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) tissue and pulmonary benign lesions tissue samples, and explore the relationship between expression levels and clinical data, also to study its prognostic significance in NSCLC.Methods:We studied specimens paraffin imbeded of lung-cancer tissue from 63 randomly selected patients of NSCLC and 9 cases from pulmonary benign lesions who underwent surgical resection. Using Immunohistochemical of EnVision,We obtained PTP1B expressions level in NSCLC and pulmonary benign lesions patients and evaluated diagnoisis value and the association between the level of expression and survival. Results:The complete testing data was acquired from 63 cases of NSCLC and 9 cases of benign lesions that have been proved by pathology after operation, in which 59 cases of NSCLC patients and all patients with benign lesions obtained overall survival data.4 cases were lost to follow-up, including 2 cases from PTP1B expression positive group and another 2 from negative group. The expression of PTP1B in pulmonary benign lesions group is negative, while its positive expression in NSCLC tissues was 50.8%(32/63), significantly higher than pulmonary benign lesions group (χ2=8.229, P =0.004); The expression of PTP1B in NSCLC tissue was not correlated with gender, age and pathological types, lymph node metastasis and tumor size, but significantly associated with pTNM staging(P=0.040). Kaplan-Meire survival analysis showed that the expression of PTP1B was significantly correlated with survival days (P=0.047). COX regression analysis showed that not only PTP1B is a independent prognostic factors for NSCLC (P=0.044,HR=2.050),but also pTNM staging (P=0.000,HR=3.631)Conclusions:PTPIB might be a biomark for differential diagnosis of malignant lung disease. PTP1B and pTNM staging have positive value of prognostic.
