Objective The epidemiological situation and the symptomatic distribution of cholinergic urticaria(ChU)should be investigatied and also the significance of the pathogenic factors of ChU. What is more, according to the symptomatic information that collected by the four examinational methods in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), exploration of syndrome differentiation of ChU should be taken too. All of these may contribute a better profile for clinical study and TCM syndrome differentiation on ChU.Methods On the basis of World Allergy Organization(WAO)guideline, we designed a epidemiological survey questionnaire of cholinergic urticaria. Subjects were militants from a troops based in Hubei province. Survies were carried on between September to December in 2014.First,The basic information of the subjects included age of primary occurence, illness course, pruritus degree, attack frequency, family history,et al were collected by fulfill the self-reported questionnaires.Second, patients diagnosed with cholinergic urticaria would fulfill a supplemental questionnaire about TCM symdrore differitiation.Eventually,a database was built up and statistical analysis was established by statistical softwares. Results ① 837 copies of complete questionnaires were collected, including 61 cases of cholinergic urticaria.② The prevalence rate was significantly different between different age groups. The prevalence rate of younger than 20 years of age soldier was slightly higher than that of other age groups.Cholinergic urticaria incidence was significantly different among different region, higher prevalence rate occurred in subjects came from North China.Subjects who has family history with hypersensitivity diseases more likely to suffer from cholinergic urticaria.③There was no significant difference in prevalence rate between 822 males and 15 females, all of the 61 patients were male. The military service length was different from 3 months to 24 years. The patients do not have notable relation with factors such as military service length, educational background, and nation difference.④The impact of ChU,mainly on the symptoms and feeling, was observed. The majority of patients considered that summer was the season which ChU more easy to attack. The average age of ChU frist occurred was 17.74 years old.The age of ChU frist occurred range varied from 11 years old to 30 years old.The illness course of ChU varied from 2 months to 11 years. The constituent ratio of illness severity : mild degree is the highest for 36.7%.⑤ Syndorme differentition of TCM was perfromed among 61 ChU patients.Concretely, 22 cases were Windheat affecting surface type, 19 cases were blood-insufficiency and dry-wind, 14 cases were stagnation of the liver type,6 cases were defensive energy unstable type. Conclusion Subject’s age, native region, family history of allergy are impact factors on the incidence of cholinergic urticaria. The highest rate of incidence of urticaria is in the group under 21 years old.The other factors, such as length of military service, educational background and nationality are not clear related factors. The relationships cann’t make certain between the severe degree of symptoms and course、age、length of military service due to sample size. Activity is the most sensetive trigger. There are some clinical features of ChU patients collected by the four examinational methods in TCM. Wind- heat affecting surface type and blood-insufficiency with dry-wind type are the common typies of all 4 kinds of syndrome differentiation of ChU. This may contribute to the pathogenesis of Ch U.
