Clinical Research On The Rules Of Herbal Administration In Navel Therapy Of Tympanites

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the rules of herbal administration in navel therapy of tympanites.Methods: 184 herbal formulas in previous literatures were collected and catalogued in a Microsoft Office Excel database. Then the data were analyzed via SPSS17.0 to provide information about rules of herbal administration in navel therapy of tympanites. Types, high frequency, property and flavor of herbs as well as the combinations of commonly used herbs were further discussed.Results: The top twenty herbs, each of which was used more than 20 times, were Euphorbia kansui, Chinese cinnamon, Semen pharbitidis, Fistular onion stalk, Musk, Rhubarb, Borneol, Vinegar, Astragalus membranaceus, Ginger, Euphorbia. The combination of Euphorbia kansui and Semen pharbitidis was most often used in navel therapy of tympanites.Conclusion:(1)Euphorbia kansui was the most frequently used herb in navel therapy of tympanites.(2)The pungent flavour and warm in nature were apparently more frequent than others occurring in prescriptions.(3)The channel distributions of herbs mainly included the spleen, lung, liver and stomch meridians.(4)Herbs with the function of purgation and restoring deficiency were most frequently used.
