Objective:This study’s aim is to assess the relationship between overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms and urodynamic findings of detrusor overactivity (DO) in men and women, through that evaluate the role of urodynamic in diagnosis and treatment of OAB.Methods:We did the urodynamic tests for adult males and females who came to 1st Hospital Urology Department for urodynamic evaluation, then reviewed the records to collect who have OAB syndrome symptoms with the presence or absence of DO. OAB symptoms were calculated separately. Results:From the patients with OAB syndrome symptoms, the incidence of DO was 68% male and 58% female. In which,57.1% men and 48.8% women with urgency (OAB dry) had DO, while 86.5% of men and 64.9% of women with urgency and urgency urinary incontinence (OAB wet) had DO. Of women,48.6% who were OAB wet had stress urinary incontinence symptoms.83.8% of DO men and 91.4% of DO women has incontinence, but with the men and women without DO, the rate of incontinence is 53.1% and 73.8%, respectively. Conclusions:It seems that in the men who have urgency and incontinence, the urodynamic results of maximum cystometry capacity, bladder sensation were significantly affected. While in women, only in who have urge incontinence, those three parameters were significantly affected. Urge urinary incontinence appears to be the best predictor for DO in OAB male and female patients with the symptoms be study separately.
