Obiective: According to retrospectively analyzing 53 cases of congenital megaureter, we discuss the etiology and summarize its characteristics and clinical manifestations in order to improve the diagnosis and treatment of congenital megaureter.Methods: we analyze gender, age, starting symptoms, secondary symptoms,treatment, past medical history and other relevant information of 53 cases patient in our hospital during the period of January 1998- March 2015 and use statistical methods to summarize the clinical characteristics and the related clinical performance for guiding clinical diagnosis and treatment.Results: The male patient of megaureter are more than the female patient of megaureter and the left side is higher than the right. The first symptoms are often the pain of waist, hematuria, urinary tract irritation and so on. The megaureter is often combine with other deformities of urogenital system, such as: the renal pelvis ureter connection department narrow, multiple uterine fibroids, polycystic kidney, repeat renal and so on. Surgery have significant curative effect to relieve obstruction, reflux and hydronephrosis and other symptoms of megaureter.Conclusions: Symptoms of congenital megaureter are lack of specificity and its diagnosis relies on IVU and ultrasonic imaging examination and so on. The selection of operation of congenital megaureter is mainly base on the degree of kidney damage because of obstruction.
