Objective:To observe the effect of optimum proposal of integration of disease and TCM syndrome on airway inflammation and inflammatory indicators in bronchial asthma patients. Methods:Sixty bronchial asthma patients were selected from Jiangsu province combine traditional Chinese and western medicine hospital respiratory from January 2011 to June 2014 were randomized into three (A、B、C) groups. The treatment group (group A,20cases) pilot program for patients with TCM syndrome, and treated with oral Chinese medicine by the optimum proposal of integration of disease and TCM syndrome. Based on which, the treatment group (group B,20cases) was treated with oral Chinese medicine and inhalant (salmeterol-fluticasone, trade name:Seretide, produced by the GlaxoSmithKline company, 50/250μg, one or two inhalation, twice a day). The control group (group C,20cases) was treated with salmeterol-fluticasone alone. Ten days constitue once course. Before and after treatment, the scores of sputum eosinophil count (give the induced sputum examination if patients without phlegm), routine blood eosinophil count, hypersensitive C-reactive protein and IgE index were observed. And observe the effect of optimum proposal of integration of disease and TCM syndrome on airway inflammation and inflammatory indicators in treatment (group A、B) patients. Results:Ten days after treatment, statistical analysis was carried out on the groups of data before and after the treatment:1、Sputum eosinophilia cell count has dropped after treatment in all groups, compared statistically significant before and after the treatment (P<0.01), no statistical difference between 3 groups (P>0.05),2、Routine blood eosinophil count compared no statistical difference between 3 groupsbefore and after the treatment (P>0.05).3、 Hypersensitive C-reactive protein compared statistically significant before and after the treatment (P<0.01), no statistical difference between 3 groups (P>0.05).4、IgE index has dropped after treatment in all groups, compared statistically significant before and after the treatment (P<0.01), Statistical differences in treatment group (group A、C) compared with control group (group B) (P< 0.05)Conclusion:Optimum proposal of integration of disease and TCM syndrome for inflammatory indicators in bronchial asthma patients, such as the scores of sputum eosinophil count, hypersensitive C-reactive protein, has obvious improvement. And the plan for IgE index which reflect the degree of sensitization to bronchial asthma has obvious improvement. Optimum proposal of integration of disease and TCM syndrome treated with oral Chinese medicine can significantly improve patients with bronchial asthma airway inflammation and allergic condition, and has the same therapeutic effect compare with western medicine. Combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment of bronchial asthma in the improvement of the IgE is superior to western medicine or Chinese medicine therapy alone. Peripheral eosinophil count will not be able to response the change of airway inflammation, is not recommended as the observation index.
