Objective:To investigate the characteristic, prevalence and risk factor of pain accompanied by Central Pain-Stroke Pain(CPSP) patients.Methods:68 cases of stroke patients with central pain were given a neurological examination with the characteristic of pain registered. They were assessed by Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Brief Pain Inventory,SF-36 health survey questionnaire and the Leeds assessment of neuropathic symptoms and signs. Results:In 68 cases of patients, compared to the general population, the stroke patients experienced significantly more pain, as measured by SF-36.On the basis of the BPI scale the average pain during the last 24h was 2.78. Neuropathic pain was reported by 30 cases(44.1%,LANSS>11).Using the SF-36 pain index as the dependent variable, linear regression analysis showed that depression and anxiety is an obvious risk factor for pain. Logistic regression analysis showed anxiety was independent predictors for stroke patients with neuropathic pain, diabetes and depression may aggravate the degree of pain. A minority of the CPSP patients received treatment. Conclusion:The pain morbidity of the stroke patients is significantly higher. Depression is an obvious risk factor for pain. We need to enhance the assessment and treatment of CPSP and improve the patients’ life quality. The result of the treatment for CPSP is poor, and the pathogenesis is not clear, anxiety is the risk factor for CPSP.
