[Objective] To investigate predicting factors of adaptation of ostomates through the evaluation of general and the disease related information, adaptation, coping style, self-efficacy and social support, in order to provide theoretical research foundation for the formulation and implementation of effective nursing intervention program.[Methods] To determine the variables and assessment tools through literature review and theoretical research. The questionnaires of demographic data, Ostomy Adjustment Inventory-20, Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire, Stoma Self Efficacy Scale and Social Support Revalued Scale were used to investigate 320 ostomates. Univariate analysis, correlation analysis and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the predicting factors.[Results] The average score of Ostomy Adjustment Inventory-20 was (47.02±7.42), which showed a middle level of adjustment. The score of three dimensions were (14.47±2.49), (12.84±2.00), (19.72±4.10). Univariate analysis showed that gender, age, marital status, education levels, payment of medical expenses, time after operation, stoma position, stoma related complications, monthly cost, communication with doctors, participation in activities, self-care degree, self acceptance degree were related to adaptation (P<0.05). Confrontation, self-efficacy and each dimensions, social support and each dimension showed significant positive correlation with adaptation level (P<0.01),avoidance and yield dimension showed significant negative correlation with adaptation level (P<0.01).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the variables of self-efficacy, time after operation, confrontation, subjective support, self acceptance degree, utilization degree of support, self-care degree, yield entered the model gradually. From the standardized partial regression coefficients, the effect of variables sorting is:confrontation, time after operation, subjective support, self-efficacy, self acceptance degree, yield, utilization degree of support,self-care degree.[Conclusions] Adaptation status of the sample population is in the overall medium and low level. The higher the score of self efficacy, confrontation, subjective support, support utilization, self acceptance degree,self-care degree, the higher the level of adaptation.Postoperative time longer, the higher the level of adaptation.Yield dimention score lower, the higher the level of adaptation. The research results can help to evaluate the target population for screening,by constructing effective intervention programs focusing on the predicting factors, in order to improve the adaptation and long-term quality of life of the ostomates.
