Objective:To explore methods to evaluate the quality of hawthorn, and to determine its sulfur dioxide remnant level after the decoction process while investigating the effects this process has on the remnant level. To analyze the content of the total flavonoids, organic acid, monomer composition of vitexin-2-O-rhamnoside, vitexin, rutin, qucertin,and comprehensive comparison of the differences in the quality of hawthorn. To research on the influence of hawthorn decoction to hyperlipidemia rats blood biochemical indexes. It provide experimental basis for clinical application.Methods:Sulfur dioxide residue of hawthorn were determined by acid distilled iodine titration. The total flavonoids of hawthorn was determined by UV spectrophotometry. Organic acid of hawthorn was determined by acid-base equilibrium. Vitexin-2-Orhamnoside, vitexin, rutin, qucertin of hawthorn were determined by High Performance Liquid Chromatography. Methods hyperlipidemia rat models was made and treateded with different doses of water decoction from hawthorn,and total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)were measured.Results:There exist differences among hawthorn from the total flavonoids, organic acid, monomer composition of vitexin-2-O-rhamnoside,vitexin,rutin,qucertin,sulfur dio xide residue of hawthorn. After the decoction of the samples,Sulfur dioxide residue is greatly reduced,equivalent to the original sample of sulfur dioxide residue of 0.25 ~ 0.33 times. The high-dosed and mid-dosed group of hawthorn decoction can obviously reduce TG(P<0.05), The high-dosed group of hawthorn decoction can obviously reduce TC(P<0.05),All of dosed group of hawthorn decoction cannot reduce LDL-C(P>0.05), The high-dosed group of hawthorn decoction can obviously increase HDL-C(P<0.05).Conclusion:The research established a simple and effective method of Cartage’s determination of content by the total flavonoids, organic acid and four kinds of flavonoid’s determination.After the decoction process,sulfur dioxide residue of traditional chinese medicine was decreased, hawthorn decoction can obviously reduce TG and TC, and it also can obviously increase HDL-C.The research provides experimental basis for clinical application.
