Objective:The primary aim of the present study was to compare the management outcomes of traditional Chevron osteotomy (Group A) and modified Chevron osteotomy(Group B) in mild and moderate HV.Method:In this article, we selectively review a randomise trial on 56 feet in 48 patients were treated from 2013 to 2014, reviewed at averages of one year after operation; 28 feet were in each group. The outcome measurements metatarsal protrusion distance(MPD),Hallux valgus angle(HVA), intermetatarsal 1-2 angle (1~2IMA), Maryland score and peak pressure(PP)-were taken preoperatively and at follow-up.Results:1.The Maryland score of postoperative between two groups were increased respectively, and were significantly different between the two groups (P<0.05),but the excellent rate of postoperative between two groups had no significant difference (P<0.05).2.Compared X-Ray index of postoperative between Group A and B in different periods:Primary week:Compared group A and B in HVA,1~2IMA, MPD, there were no significant difference in HVA and 1-2IMA (P>0.05), and had ificantly different in MPD (P<0.05).3rd month:Compared Group A and B in HVA,1~2IMA, MPD, there were no significant difference in HVA、1~2IMA (P>0.05), and significantly different in MPD (P<0.05).One year later:Compared Group A and B in HVA,1~2IMA, MPD, there were no significant difference in 1-2IMA (P>0.05), and had significantly different in MPD,HVA. (P<0.05).3.Compared peak pressureGroup A:compared preoperative and postoperative in PP of M1~M3 had significantly different(P<0.05),but no significantly different in PP of M4-M5 had (P>0.05); Group B:compared preoperative and postoperative in PP in PP of M1~M3 had had significantly different(P<0.05),but no significantly different in PP of M4~M5 had.Compared Group A and B in PP of M1~M5, had significant difference in PP of M1、M3, but there were no significant difference in PP of M2、M4、M5.Conclusion:Two kinds of methods can correct hallux valgus. There was significantly different in traditional Chevron group and modified Chevron group on the functional score, but there was no significant difference on the excellent rate, the index of modified Chevron is superior than the traditional Chevron in the Maryland score, HVA,MPD and PP. The indicators show that the modified Chevron can reduce the complications and can correct hallux valgus at the same time.
