Objective:To study the invitro bacteriostasic activity from Sanhuang Xiexin Decoction against propionibacterium acnes. Moreover, to explore the aqueous extract of Sanhuang Xiexin Decoction against the invitro bacteriostasic sensitivity of propionibacterium acnes. Methods:Propionibacterium acnes were cultured by anaerobic culture and conventiona plate method (anaerobic culture with 37℃temperature for 48 hours). The invitro bacteriostasie activity in the different concentration of Sanhuang Xiexin Decoction against propionibacteriun acnes was determined by measuring their MIC and contrasted with the invitro bacteriostasii MIC.Results:Sanhuang Xiexin Decoction at a concentration 6.25mg/ml, the colonies o propionibacterium acnes is visible at the culture plates. While above this concentration, no colonies of propionibacterium acnes shown. Also no colonies of propionibacterium acnes shown in the lactobionate erythromycin culture plates. Conclusion:Sanhuang Xiexin Decoction and its main ingredient:Rhubarb, Skullcap, and Berberine can affect the growth of the main bacteria propionibacterium acnes. When reaching an appropriate concentration, the growth of propionibacterium acnes can be controlled and inhibited.
