Objective: In this study we observe the dynamic changes of MMP-9 and its inhibitor TIMP1 levels in patients with intracranial and extracranial artery stenting, in order to investigate their roles and the possible impacts. Methods: We investigated MMP-9 and TIMP1 in 37 patients with intracranial and extracranial artery stenting and 42 patients with cerebral angiography from the Neurosurgery Department of General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region in this study. The study period was May 2013 to December 2014. Differences between the two groups in age, sex and other basic aspects of clinical data was not statistically significant, considered comparable. Exclusion criteria as follows:(1)With acute ischemic stroke nearly in two weeks or intracranial hemorrhage in three months;(2)With intracranial aneurysms;(3) Suffering from malignant tumor or autoimmune disease;(4) With a history of acute or chronic infection nearly two months;(5) With a clear heart, lung, liver, kidney function dysfunction.Peripheral blood 3ml were collected, centrifuged for 15 minutes to 1000r/min.The separated plasma was stored at-80 ℃ spare. By enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay(ELISA) to detect MMP-9 and TIMP1 antigen.Using statistical software SPSS13.0 statistical data on income. The results were showed in a way of x ± s, the two groups were compared using t test, P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results:1.The serum MMP-9 expression levels were significantly higher in patients with intracranial and extracranial artery stenting, he difference was statistically significant(P <0.05). And the serum TIMP1 expression levels have no obvious difference(P >0.05).2.The serum MMP-9 expression was higher expression within 24 hours to 3 days and remain at high levels, the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Although the serum TIMP1 within 24 hours to 3 days after surgery has increased, but not that obvious, there was no statistically significant difference compared with the level before the operation(P > 0.05).3.The serum levels of MMP-9 increased significantly, the serum levels of TIMP1 also has a certain rise of degree. There is a positive correlation between MMP-9 and TIMP1.Conclusion:1. The serum MMP-9 levels in patients with intracranial and extracranial artery stenting were higher than the control group, suggesting that showed that MMP-9 plays an important role in intracranial atherosclerosis, MMP-9 participats in the intracranial atherosclerotic plaque formation and rupture of the pathological process.2. The serum MMP-9 expression was higher expression within 24 hours to 3 days and remain at high levels prompt MMP-9 participated in the arteries carotid stenting after vascular injury repair pathological physiological process,May be associated with arterial long-term restenosis after carotid stenting and a potential useful predictor of restenosis.3. Experimental group patients postoperative peripheral blood TIMP1 higher levels have a certain degree, that there is a positive correlation with MMP- 9.Research on specific MMPs inhibitor, may become the new way of thinking for clinical treatment.
