ObjectiveAnalysing the perioperative blood loss after intertrochanteric femoral fracture with or without the treatment of low molecular weight heparin to provide evidences for clinical practice.MethodsWe studied retrospectively patients suffering intertrochanteric femoral fracture and treated with intramedullary nailing. And we calculated respectively the total blood loss(TBL) and hidden blood loss(HBL) of male and female patients during perioperative period.ResultsMale patients:(1) From the fracture to the1st postoperative day, the mean TBL and HBL of patients without perioperative anticoagulation were more than the pre-and-postoperative anticoagulation ones (P<0.05). The mean TBL or HBL of postoperative anticoagulation patients had no significant difference compared to the2 other groups (P>0.05).(2)From fracture to the3rd postoperative day,the mean TBL or HBL of the3groups had no significant difference each other (P>0.05).Female patients(1) From the fracture to the1st postoperative day, the mean TBL or HBL of the3groups had no significant difference each other (P>0.05).(2) From fracture to the3rd postoperative day, the mean TBL or HBL of the3groups had no significant difference each other (P>0.05).ConclusionPatients suffering intertrochanteric femoral fracture will develop venous thromboemlism with a high risk. And low molecular weight heparin(LMWH) can decrease the risk and causes a low bleeding risk.Therfore LMWH is worth recommending in clinical routine practice.
