ObjectiveTo evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after binding pancreaticogastrostomy (BPG).MethodThe patients after type Ⅱ BPG were included in the study from June2013to March2015in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University. The postoperative symptoms and quality of life were determined by telephone follow-up and Chinese version SF-36QoL questionnaire every six months from the operation day.1688healthy citizens in Hangzhou city were included in the control group.ResultUp to April2015, eighteen patients were included in the BPG group, with the median follow-up time of fourteen months, rangeing from1month to22months. For these patients, there were two cases of chronic diarrhea and there were two death cases due to tumor recurrence. We collected the outcome of postoperative6months in fifteen cases, postoperative12months in thirteen cases, postoperative18months in four cases. Thirteen cases with the outcome of both postoperative6and12months were analyzed compared to the control group. Statistical results showed that on postoperative6months, the scores of BPG group on physical functioning were lower than the control group (<0.05), while the scores of other dimensions had no difference with the control group (>0.05). On postoperative12months, the scores of BPG group on both physical functioning and role-emotional were lower than the control group (<0.05), while the scores of other dimensions had no difference with the control group(>0.05).ConclusionBPG is a simple technique, with the advantages of no needle hole on serosal layer of pancreas and stomach, biliopancreatic diversion, without the limitation of the remanent pancreas, double binding skill. BPG has been confirmed the clinical safty and efficiency in preventing postoperative pancreatic fistula. It also has little effect on postoperative pancreatic function. The hypofunction of physical functioning and role-emotional after BPG maybe has a closer relation with pancreaticoduodenctomy and psychological events, rather than BPG anastomosis. The long-term effect of BPG on quality of life needs to be further studied.
