Brain is a complex network which is connected by multiple brain areas indifferent time-spatial scales, including a large number of neurons, the complexconnections between them and its cognitive function. Electroencephalogram is acomplex random signal generated by cerebral cortex which contains a wealth ofphysiological information. It is a hot topic using EEG to build functional brainnetworks, analyze the topology of brain networks based on complex networktheory, and then analyze the coupling relationship between different regions ofbrain. But different nodes and connections definition of network can directlyaffect the interpretation of brain functionality.The study explores the construction and properties analysis of EEGfunction brain network from multiple perspectives. On alcoholics EEG data, theEEG brain function network was constructed through measuring thesynchronization between cortical ROIs after source tracing and then, exploringthe brain network difference between alcoholics and normal group by networkproperties analysis. On the emotion DEAP data, the EEG brain function networkwas constructed by analyzing the phase lag index between nodes which canpreferably avoid the effect of volume conductor to study different network connections on different emotion state. The main work are as follows:1. Choose cortical ROIs after source tracing as nodes and synchronizationbetween them as edges to construct both alcoholics’ and normal group’s EEGbrain function network. The result shows that alcoholics may lead to some braindamage due to long-term alcohol abuse.2. In this paper, a new method-the phase lag index PLI was used tomeasure the strength between scalp nodes to construct the brain network indifferent emotions. The network properties analyzing shows that the emotionwith a high arousal can promote brain information processing capacity.3. Threshold selection method based on small-world networks was used inthe research. Construct functional brain networks in different thresholds andthen analyze the brain network topology under different thresholds.4. Based on complex network theory to build and analyze the EEG brainfunction network, and then research the brain functional integration anddifferentiation ability. Brain network analysis between Alcoholics and normalreveals the brain damage in alcoholics and also do some research on emotion toexplore the network efficiency.In conclusion, this study is mainly to study the construction method and itsapplication of brain networks based on complex network theory, and explore thechanges of topological properties of brain network. It provides new evidenceand perspectives for brain function network research.
