Objectives:To observe the clinical efficacy for treating abdominal obesity by combining acupoint catgut embedding at spleen and stomach meridian with scraping the belt channel, and to supply a creative and effective therapeutic method and a new clinical idea for treating abdominal obesity. Methods:To separate70subjects who meet the standards of abdominal obesity into treatment group and control group in the way of random allocation. Each group has35subjects. In the treatment group, subjects were treated by combining acupoint catgut embedding at spleen and stomach meridian with scraping the belt channel. In the control group, subjects were treated by acupoint catgut embedding at spleen and stomach meridian only. The treatments of acupoint catgut embedding were took one time per fifteen days and six times in all, while the treatment of scrapings were took one time per seven days and twelve times in all. After the treatment, to evaluate and compare the efficiency through the following data collected before and after treatment:weight, degree of obesity, waistline, hipline, index of weight loss, value of waistline decrease and waist-to-hip ratio, etc. The statistic was processed with SPSS17.0.Results:This experiment was on the basis of research programme and brought into70subjects,35of which were in the treatment group and the other35are in the control group. In the process of treatment,6subjects lost. In the end,64subjects finished. After the treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group is90.63%, and the total effective rate of control group is84.38%. In the aspect of decreasing subjects’ weight, index of weight, degree of obesity, waistline, hipline and waist-to-hip ratio, etc., each group has varying degrees of efficacy. About the value of decreasing waistline, the effect of treatment group is superior to that of control group, and the differences are statistically significant (p<0.01). About degree of obesity, the differences between two groups are not statistically significant. Conclusion:First, the therapeutic methods used in the two groups, one is combining acupbint catgut embedding at spleen and stomach meridian with scraping and the other is acupoint catgut embedding at spleen and stomach meridian only, are both had efficacy. In the aspect of total effect, weight loss and waistline decrease, the effect of treatment group is superior to ’control group, and the differences are statistically significant (p<0.05). However, there is not statistically significant in the comparison about degree of obesity in two groups. Second, the therapeutic method of combining acupoint catgut embedding at spleen and stomach meridian with scraping has effect on controlling the increase of weight, waistline and hipline. Therefore, taking the therapeutic method of combining acupoint catgut embedding at spleen and stomach meridian with scraping to treat abdominal obesity is effective, which can be a reference in clinic.
