Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is one of the most advanced nucleus medicine diagnosis and research techniques which can be used to show metabolism of biological molecules, neurotransmitter receptors and activities in live. Scientific research carried out around the PET has been an important topic for the medical community and the high-end research and development department of medical imaging around the world. In this paper, we simulate two types of PET scintillator detector, and make progress in the following areas.The progress that photons produced by gamma transport in the light guide then captured and amplified by PMT is very complicated, and it is difficult to test this progress using the method of physical experiments. For these reasons, GATE simulation platform for nuclear medicine was constructed successfully in the Linux operating system.Based on GATE simulation platform, a traditional structure of8×8array and a photomultipliers quadrant sharing (PQS) structure of10×10array LYSO scintillator PET detectors were modeled and analyzed, and then the whole physical process in these two detectors was simulated. During this process, the relation between detector performance and crystal materials and surface properties was studied.Used anger-logic, scatter of gamma photons was achieved successfully; based on the model of gamma probability distribution, optimal cutting depth of light guide was discussed; a crystal position map of8X8array PET scintillator detector was completed through watershed transformation method; a quantitative analysis about spatial resolution and energy resolution was build.Based on the above work, a PET detector module with8×8LYSO scintillator array, light guide and Photomultiplier tube (PMT) was developed. Detector test was completed on the test platform with Ge-68radiation source in Accelerator Test Center in Neusoft, and the factors which could impact characteristics of nuclear pulse signal was discussed.
