Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the prevalence characteristicsand perinatal risk factors of small for gestational age in children born late preterm byanalyzing clinical samples. Methods: We conducted a systematic review of the prevalence characteristics andperinatal risk factors among infants born34weeks~36+6weeks of gestational age,including78small for gestational age (SGA) infants and266appropriate for gestationalage (AGA) infants, hospitalized between March2012to February2013in neonatal ICU ofYancheng NO.1People’s Hospital. Results:The data showed that the number of days of hospitalization was longer inSGA group than in AGA group (p<0.05). Moreover, the retio of neonatalasphyxia, intracranial hemorrhage, feeding intolerance and the incidence ofhypoglycemia were significantly higher in SGA group than those in group AGA(p<0.05). What’s more, in SGA group, mothers with pregnancy-induced hypertensionand multiple pregnancies are significantly more than in AGA group(p<0.05).Conclusions: SGA patients have a higher risk in developing diseases thanAGA patients, pregnancy-induced hypertension and multiple pregnancies may be majorcauses of SGA. So we call for clinicians pay attention to the special physiologicalcharacteristics of small for gestational age, early intervention of risk factors foritsoccurrence, clinical improvement of small for gestational age infantsprognosis makeconcerted efforts.
