ObjectiveTo compare short-term outcomes of laparoscopic and open gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer, and investigate the feasibility and safety of laparoscopy.MethodsClinical data of23patients who underwent laparoscopic-assisted gastrectomy (LAG) was compared with that of18patients who underwent open gastrectomy(OG) during Jan.2013and Feb.2014.ResultsThere Was no significant difference between the two groups in operative time (ODG226.1±41.4min vs LADG262.1±51.0min, P>0.05; OTG286.1±50.1min vs LADG323.6±35.7min, P>0.05), the mean length of hospital stay (ODG23.6±25.3d vs LADG13.4±6.2d, P>0.05; OTG15.4±2.3dvsLATG17.4±5.9d, P>0.05), number of lymph node harvested (ODG36.6±9.7vs LADG31.6±9.4, P>0.05; OTG34.7±14.5vs LATG30.6±7.4枚, P>0.05), postoperative complications (OG2/18vs LAG2/23, P>0.05).But the blood loss (ODG222.2±87.0ml vs LADG153.6±63.4ml, P<0.05; OTG277.8±79.5ml vs LATG194.4±72.6ml, P<0.05) and bowel function recovery (ODG4.0±1.0d vs LADG3.1±0.8d, P<0.05; OTG4.0±0.7d vs LATG3.8±0.8d, P>0.05) were significantly different.ConclusionsLaparoscopic gastrectomy is a feasible and safe procedure for advanced gastric cancer, with similar short-term outcomes of laparotomy.
