Objective:Through the data of36cases of condylar fractures were analyzed retrospectively, summarizes the characteristic of condylar fractures, and to explore the choosing principles of treatment indications, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of different treatment methods, and provides reference for the treatment of condylar fractures.Method:A total of36patients who were diagnosed as condylar fractures at the Second Affiliated Hospital of the Medical School of Zhejiang University from January2010to October2011were collected detailed information on patient admission medical record. Record the treatment process and the cases were followed up for more than2years to record therapeutic effect and complications. The clinical data such as age, sex, disease causes, fracture type, combined injury, treatment and sequela etc were statistical analyzed. Results:Condylar fracture male to female ratio is3:1, young adults accounting for44.44%. The traffic accident and fall injury were the leading causes of condylar fracture in33.33%and30.55%. High-position condylar fracture, the median-position condylar fracture and low-position condylar fractures accounted for42.30%,46.15%and11.54%respectively,63.88%of the cases had complicated maxillofacial fractures. Surgical treatment of15cases, accounting for41.67%, and conservative treatment of21cases, accounting for58.33%. Of all the complications, limited mouth opening in6cases, occlusal disorders in2cases, numbness of the area in3patients, joint symptoms in3cases, facial nerve palsy in1case.Conclusions:Condylar fractures in more men than women, high risk group is young adults, the most common causative factors for traffic injuries and fall injury. Condylar neck was the most fracture site, the mentum fracture is the most common concurrent injury. The treatments for condylar fracture include conservative treatment and operation, the higher fracture position the more inclined to conservative treatment. Children condylar fractures choice conservative treatment. The choice of treatment methods depends on a overall consideration of patient age, fracture site, the degree of displacement and concurrent injury factors. A single individual cases can obtain satisfactory therapeutic effect with surgical treatment and conservative treatment if the selection method is proper. Surgery complications commom in limited mouth opening, facial nerve palsy, numbness and Conservative treatment complications common in occlusal disorders such as pain, temporomandibular joint disorders.
