Directly related to patients’life and health, medical quality is decisive for a hospital’s survival and development. Therefore, medical quality management remains the eternal theme of hospital management. With the development of economy, people’s living standards have improved together with their health awareness, with the expectation of better health services.Overall, medical quality management in China started late and developed slowly. In the past decades, by the efforts of the competent departments, hospital management and medical staff, the medical quality and service abilities have been enhanced. But there is still a wide gap compared with social expectations and the situation in developed countries.Currently, a new medical and health system reform is deepening, and hospitals are facing new opportunities and challenges. As a result, hospital managers should attach importance to the construction of hospital connotation and the exploration of more effective ways to achieve a higher standard of medical quality, which also lives up to expectations of the whole society.The study is divided into four parts.Part I states the concept of medical quality, the characteristics of medical quality management and the development history of quality management theories. In addition, it analyzes the status quo of the medical quality management in China, and gives an introduction to the practices of hospitals in China in the construction of medical quality management mode and the improvement of medical quality. Part II takes a Grade III-A hospital for an example, analyzes and summarizes its current health quality management.Part III focuses on the key projects carried out in the present medical quality management mode and their effects are evaluated.In Part IV, the paper puts forward some suggestions for the continuous improvement of medical quality in the hospital., and then proceeds to explore the starting points and the keys to strengthening medical quality management in hospitals.
