ObjectiveTo analyze macular thickness in early diabetic retinopathy and its relationship withglycated hemoglobin, provide a theoretical basis for the early diagnosis of diabetic macularedema, contral the risk factor and timely treatment.MethodsPart I:94cases in non-diabetic retinopathy group received OCT scan in macular area;thescanning model is512×128; recording the each area thickness, average thickness and totalmacular volume, and compared with healthy subjects.Part II:82cases without diabetic macular edema received OCT scan in macular area;thescanning model is512×128. Analyse relationship between glycosylated hemoglobin andmacular thickness, average thickness and total macular volume.Compare the macularthickness in glycemic good control group and poor control group.ResultsPart IIn OCT scan, both the diabetic group and the control group are as following rules: thecentral subfield is the thinnest, the inner field thicker than the outer field, the nasal field thickerthan the temporal field, the superior field thicker than the inferior field. The macular thicknessis thicker in diabetic group than in control group generally, but the differences have nostatistical significance.Part IIWith the HbA1c increased, the macular thickness increased gradually. In total macularvolume, the outer field, the inner inferior field and the average macular thickness havestatistically significant (P <0.05). The macular thickness is thicker in blood glucose poorcontrol group than in blood glucose good control group generally, but only in average macularthickness and outer nasal field have statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion1.Using OCT scan in non-diabetic retinopathy patients can detect early maculardegenerations by analyzing the macular retinal thickness and pattern.2.The glucose is an independent risk factor in diabetic macular edema. Early tightglycemic control prior to the onset of DME may play an important role in delaying thediabetic macular edema effectively, and OCT scan can detect early DME, and follow-up theprogression of DME.
