Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics and survival time of basal-like breastcancer by studing the data of40basal-like breast cancer and200non-basal-like breast cancer.Provide certain reference basis for Basal-like clinical diagnosis and treatment in the region.Methods:240cases of female breast cancer patients, which after surgery and diagnosed byhistopathology from Jan2002to Dec2007in First Affiliated Hospital of Shi HeziUniversity of medicine analysed retrospectively. By observing the special pathologicmorphology and detecting the estrogen receptor (ER), progestrogen receptor (PR), humanepidermal growth factor receptor2(HER2/C-erbB-2), and cytokeratin5/6(CK5/6) of the200patients,40patients were diagnosed as Basal-like breast cancer with the standard of havingdistinguish pathologic characteristics and with the negative expression of ER,Her-2(C-erbB-2),and/or PR(-) yet with the positive expression of CK5/6. All the otherpatients were divided into the group of non-Basal-like breast cancer. By contrasting the dataof the two groups, we analysed the distribution features in the population of basal like breastcancer, and analysed its prognosis. Results: Compared with non-Basal-like group, Basal-like had larger tumor size (the ratioof the tumor size>2cm were77.5%and39.0%, respectively, P <0.001), higher lymph nodemetastasis ratio (85.0%and49.5%, P=0.000), more metastatic lymph nodes (the number oflymph nodes≥4were37.5%and23.5%, respectively, P=0.002), later clinical stage (Ⅲ-Ⅳstage rates were47.5%and24.0%, P=0.004), propensity for lung metastases (35.0%and3.0%P <0.001).The five-year overall survival rates of Basal-like and non-Basal-like were75.0%and86.5%, respectively. The five-year disease free survival rates of two groups were52.5%and75.5%.Conclusion: Basal-like patients had larger tumor size, higher lymph node metastasis ratio, more metastatic lymph nodes, later clinical stage, propensity for lung metastasis and poorsurvival.
