Objective:Pancreatic canceris one of the world’smost known malignant tumorsin the present situation. In American, at least36800people die of pancreatic cancer each year. In China, pancreatic cancer’s rate ofoccurrence and mortality rank sixth among other malignant tumors. More than200000peopleare newly diagnosed every year worldwide. In the past20years, the morbidity of pancreatic cancer among the Chinese has increased by more than3times, estimated to be9.4/lmillion, and itisstill a rising trend. Early pancreatic canceris hardly diagnosed, and thus upon diagnosis, distant metastasisis commonly found in near50%of the patients. The median survival of advanced pancreatic cancer is only3-6months. At present, surgical resection is the best treatment for patients with pancreatic cancer. However, the lack of specific clinical manifestation of pancreatic cancer, causing more than80%of pancreatic cancer patients with late onset to lose the chance of operation, and operating on these patientsdoes not improve their survival rate. Although the efficacy of conventional treatments is of no satisfaction, the drug therapy given in the internal medicine division of medical oncology, has become an important means to the treatment of pancreatic cancer. Treatments in medical oncology include chemotherapy, targeted therapy etc. With the popularization and clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine, the treatment of pancreatic cancerusing traditional Chinese medicine has become one of the mainstream methods.Treatment usingChinese medicine is able to improve the clinical symptoms, prolong the survival time and improve the quality of life of patients, which the benefits gainedare not to be ignored. This retrospective analysis aimed to understand the impact of the comprehensive treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer patients’ survival and quality of life through summarizing clinical cases and experiences. Hence, explore the possibilities of better methodsin treating pancreatic cancer which in turn will provide guidance for clinical work. Methods:the database is based on screening patients in Guanganmen Academy of traditional Chinese medicine hospital Chinese oncology with "pancreatic cancer" as their first diagnosis between theyear2009to2011. The data were analyzed by SPSS19.0. This retrospective analysis evaluatesthe survival of the pancreatic cancer patients after comprehensive treatment, and the effects of different treatment methods on the survival of pancreatic cancer. Survival was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method to calculate the survival curve, with Log-rank method were compared among groups. Numerical data are analyzed usingx2test, P<0.05is the difference has statistical significanceResults:theresults of the79patients’survival with advanced pancreatic cancer after treatment of Integrated Chinese and Western medicine wereas follow:half year survival rate was50.63%,1year survival rate was25.32%,3year survival rate was2.53%, the median progression of survival was10.51months. According to the analysis of the52cases with complete CA199data,19caseswereeffective and stable,33caseswere ineffective. The total efficacy was36.5%. In the analysis of the47caseswith complete CEA data,13caseswereeffective and stable,29cases are ineffective, total efficacy was27.65%. Evaluation on41casesreceivingtreatment who managed to survive more than4weeks after the experiment due date, were accessed in clinical benefit response evaluation,19cases were CBR positive,22were negative. The positive rate of treatment was46.34%. ComparingKPS score≥80group and KPS score<80group, the survival rateof patients with pancreatic cancer with KPS score≥80group was63.6%, the median survival time was12.99months, the KPS score<80group, the survival rate was44.3%, the median survival period of8.02months. Comparison of CA199≥1000group and CA199<1000group the survival of patients with pancreatic cancer, CA199<1000group, the survival rate was64.9%, the median survival time was15.88months, CA199≥1000group, the survival rate was40.5%, the median survival period of7.8months.Conclusion:(1) the prognosis of advanced pancreatic cancer is related to the KPS score, the higher the KPS score, thehigher survivalpatients might obtain.(2) Patients with CA199≥1000U/ml might have poor prognosisafter treatment.CA199levels aftertreatmentdecreased or stabilizedin patients mighthave longer survival. CA199as index to judge the effect of treatment, and guide the clinical diagnosis prognosis and curative effect.(3) Systemic chemotherapy and local artery infusion chemotherapy plus traditional Chinese medicine decoction therapy plus traditional Chinese medicine injection of intravenous treatment of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment can prolong the survival of patients with advanced pancreatic cancer, and also improve the quality of life. With the variety of integrated Chinese and Western medicine interventions as treatment, the patients can have longer survival.
