Objective:Comparison and analysis the clinical effectiveness between puncture drainage by ultrasound and surgery operation in the treatment of pyogenic liver abscess. Methods:The clinical date of 81 patients with pyogenic liver abscess who were admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 2012 to December 2013 were analyzed. Patients were divided into the puncture drainage by ultrasound group(48 patients) and the surgery operation group(33 patients). The basic information, relevant laboratory examination, efficient rate, complication rate, mortality, time for body temperature returned to normal and hospital stays were compared. Results:The Klebsiella pneumoniae account for 45.45% in the blood culture positive, account for 62.50% in the pus culture positive. There was no statistically significant difference in the effective rate and mortality(x2=0.91,2.05,P>0.05).For patients with puncture drainage hospital stay was(14±5)days, which was significantly shorter than (17±5)days of patients with surgery operation(t=-3.20,P<0.05) In the time for body temperature returned to normal, patients with puncture drainage was (5.1±1.6)days,which was shorter than (6.0±1.1)days of patients with surgery operation(t=-2.85,P<0.05). The number of patients who had postoperative complications in the puncture drainage group was 6, which was smaller than 10 in the surgery operation group(x2=3.91,P<0.05).Conclusion:Puncture drainage for liver abscess by ultrasound is safe, feasible, the low complication rate, speedy recovery and with good therapeutic effect, which can be the preferred treatment choice for pyogenic liver abscess.
