Objective: To investigate the association ABCG2 gene rs2231142 loci polymorphism with uric acid metabolism and kidney function in Uygur and Han populations. Methods: From February to December 2013, the Han and Uygur populations were collected from the first affiliated hospital of xinjiang medical university medical center, they were between 20-70 years old, including 2412 Uygur and 1289Han;based on uric acid levels, inclusion and exclusion criteria of hyperuricemia, they were divided into hyperuricemia and normal group. The whole blood samples were collected, then examined the biochemical indicators; we extracted genomic DNA, the ABCG2 gene was amplificated by PCR, analysis the products with iMLDR for single nucleotide polymorphism detection, analysis the correlation between ABCG2 gene rs2231142 loci polymorphism and uric acid metabolism and kidney function in Uygur and Han populations. Results:(1)The level of uric acid in Han was higher than the Uygur(P<0.05), the level of uric acid of hyperuricemia group was higher than the normal group in Uygur and Han populations(P < 0.05), there was a closely association between the estimated glomerular filtration rate and serum uric acid(P < 0.05).(2) There was difference on the levels of uric acid, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, estimated glomerular filtration rate in the ABCG2 genotypes in Uygur and Han populations(P<0.05), and the size followed by genotype TT>GT>GG(P<0.05).(3) The distributions of ABCG2 genotypes and alleles were different at the different levels of uric acid in Han(P<0.05), the TT genotype of hyperuricemia group was higher than the normal group, GG genotype of the normal group was higher than the hyperuricemia group; but there was no significant difference in Uygur(P>0.05).(4) The distributions of GT+TT genotype and T allele of hyperuricemia group was higher than the normal group in renal function group of Han,GG genotype and G allele of the normal group was higher than the hyperuricemia group in renal function group of Han(P<0.05); but there was no significant difference in the Uygur(P>0.05). The relative risk analysis of TT genotype in the renal function group of the Han and renal insufficiency group of the Uygur has increased 1.502,1.163 times(P<0.05). Conclusion: The estimated glomerular filtration rate is the renal function indicators that has a closely association with the hyperuricemia in Uygur and Han populations; the impact of the people carrying T allele on renal function highly increase than the non-carriers, which has a correlation with renal impairment, while the relative risk of hyperuricemia increase in Uygur and Han populations; the people carring the TT genotype has the higher relative risk of hyperuricemia than people carrying GG genotype, which indicate that the T allele may be a risk factor to hyperuricemia, otherwise the G allele may be a protective factor in Uygur and Han populations.
