| Analysis on epidemiological characteristics of injury among floating population in Pudong New AreaInjuries are a major threat to the health of floating population:With the process of urbanization in China, there are more and more people without local hukou in large and medium-sized cities. The number of injury cases in this population increases year by yearAccording to statistics, Pudong New Area, which is the largest municipal district in Shanghai, has a floating population of about 2.5 million by the end of 2013. Existing data show that there are 33189 injury cases in the floating population of Pudong New Area in 2011-2013.To analysis the occurrence of injuries in the floating population of Pudong New Area, including the incidence rate of injury, main reasons of injury, principal places of injury and so on. To provide a reference for the development of measures to reduce injury incidence. The information of community out-patient injuries cases is collected through the injury network reporting system monthly by each Community Health Center in Pudong New Area. And the information of in-patient injuries cases is from the secondary and tertiary hospitals. The specific information of each injury case is asked by trained medical staff, including the general condition of the patient, the cause, time, place, nature of the injury and the clinical treatment. The injury case is determined by the criteria in the injury epidemiology and coded according to the international classification of diseases (ICD-10).The data was analysed with SPSS 16.0 after collated and checked. The differences between the rates were compared by χ2 test, with P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.ResultsAfter screening,33189 injury cases collected by the Community Health Center were included in this study, which were from the injury network reporting system of 2011-2013.The age distribution of the injury patients in the floating population was mainly concentrated in the 20-50 age group. The number of male and female injury patients was 25124 and 8065 respectively, and the sex ratio was 3.12:1. After the analysis of the characteristics of occupational distribution, the result showed that the main injury population were production personnel, transport equipment operators and related workers (21,696 cases; 65.37%). The intention of injuries:98.86%(32,812 cases) of the cases were unintentional. Self-harm/suicide, intentional, uncertainties were 51 cases (0.150%), 305 cases (0.92%) and 21 cases (0.06%) respectively. The top three places of injuries were as follows:industrial and construction area (51.41%), home (18.17%), and Streets and roads (13.10%),。The top three activities when the injuries happened were as follows:paid work(61.73%), leisure activities (14.81%) and household duties/study (11.70%).The first reason was sharp instrument wound and there were 14498 cases (43.68%).The second reason of the injuries was fall and there were 7322 cases (22.06%) of fall in total. The third reason were blunt force injury. The top three body parts of injuries were as follows:upper limb(45.49%), lower limb (31.03%) and head(16.98%).The top three natures of injuries were sharp instrument woud, bitewoud and open wound.Policy suggestion(1). Due to the particularityof the living and work places, their own lack of self-protection awareness, not enough emphasis on injury prevention, the floating population can be easily wounded by all kinds of injuries, causing a significant impact on the family and society. Health status of the floating population should be payed attention.(2).In floating population, the main place of injuries is industrial and construction area, which is different from the registered population. So we should take measures to ruduse the number of the injury cases, such as making the industrial buildings safer, improving the floating population’s safety awareness and so on.(3). The injury prevention measures should be taked according to the characteristics of different groups of people(4). The elderly always are poor prognosis after injury, which make the financial burden heavy. So through the joint intervention of individuals, government and society, the long-term and sustained safety promotion program should be carried out in the elderly to reduce the injuries. The most important of all, the primary prevention measures should be taken to prevent risk factors of injuries, in order to effectively reduce the incidence of injury among the elderly and improve the elderly’s life quality. |
