There is a general interest in the effects of magnetic fields on human tissue, for biomedical imaging, cancer therapy or tissue engineering applications. In particular the orthopedic field may greatly benefit from magnetic scaffolds, magnetic fixation and magnetic delivery techniques.magnetic scaffolds have become fundamental tools in bone graft substitution and are used in combination with a variety of bio-agents.these process involves dip-coating of the beta TCP scaffolds in super-paramagnetic iron oxide solution 2.5 mg/ml with a size of 15nm.After dip-coating, the nanoparticles are integrated into the structure of the scaffolds.mechanical and chemical analysis, magnetic measurement were carried out, morphologies are displayed in scanning electron microscope micrograph suggested an almost uniform distribution of nanoparticles. The magnetic scaffolds do not suffer from any structural damage during the process, maintaining their specific porosity and shape. All of these results shows that a magnetic features could be incorporated into beta-TCP that could be processed to manufacture scaffolds for advanced bone tissue engineering and, thus, provide new opportunity in terms of scaffold fixation and functionalization...
