SangJu prescription was made up of mulberry leaf, wild chrysanthemum flower,forsythia and so on. It has important pharmacological activities of heat-clearing and detoxifying, cool pharmaceutica, advantage to swallow and reduce swelling. On the basis of production process feasible and quality standardscontrollable, The effects of Sangju Oral Liquid as to anti-inflammation, anti-pyretic and antibacteriostasis were examined, and research on anti-bacterial activity constituents.The effect of relieving acute and chronic inflammation was tested with xylene induced ear swelling model, carrageenan induced foot swelling model, acetic acid induced abdomen capillaries inflammatory exudates;The antipyretic activity of Sangju was observed in rats with hightemperature induced by dried yeast and 2,4-dinitropheno, The bacteriostatic effect of Sangju was observed with the death-protection of MRSA infected mice and the most common of bacteria of respiratory tract in vitro; and research on antibacterialactivity constituents by silca-gel column chromatography and sephhadex LH-20. On the basis of the spectroscopic methods (UV\IR^ NMR and so on) and physicochemical properties, the structures of these compounds were elucidated.The results showed that Sangju can significantly inhibit the xylene-induced ear edema(P<0.05), carrageenan induced foot swelling model (P<0.05), and abdomen capillaries inflammatory exudates induced by acetic acid(P<0.05), the MIC of beta hemolyt-ic streptococcus and Streptococcus pneumoniae was 2.5mg/mL. Eight constituents were isolated and elucidated from antibacterial active site of 30% Sangju Oral Liquid, The structures of 8 compounds:3-(3-hydroxyl-phenyl)-propionate、3-(3-hydroxyl-phenyl)-methoxypropionate、cinnamic acid、3-hydroxy-1-(3-methoxy-4-Hydroxy phenyl) propan-1-one、3-hydroxy-1-(3,5-dimethoxy-4-Hydroxyphenyl) propan-1-one、p-hydroxybenzoic acid、protocatechuic acid、vanilloid.Sangju has the effect on anti inflammatory, anti beta hemolytic streptococcus and Streptococcus pneumoniae.The antibacterial activity of Sangju stemed from phenolicacids constituents.
