In recent years, Traditional Chinese medicine has been concerned about the safety and scholars have done a lot of research in aspects from security monitoring, clinical research to experimental research (TCM injections, especially). Objective:By integrating documentation, retrospective case analysis and analysis of real-world application of Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and other relevant information, investigate Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) application security principle, adverse events affecting factors and attenuated method. Methods:Chinese Herbal Medicine safety studies to clinical medicine commonly used, Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) for example, to carry out research from different perspectives, retrospective analysis and prospective clinical observation.Results:85 patients for outpatient medical records application Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) retrospective analysis found that the observation period ALT, AST were no significant changes were 63 cases (74.12%); ALT, AST were elevated in 3 cases (3.53%), respectively, history of liver disease, history of alcohol abuse, excessive use of toxic Chinese medicine history; ALT, AST decreased in 4 cases (4.71%), prescription medicine more compatibility of Yinchen (Artemisia Capillaris), Wuweizi (Schisandra chinensis) or the application of Drop enzyme hepatoprotective medicine. The security of real-world applications Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) 329 cases were prospectively monitored, reported adverse events were 159 cases, including 26 cases of adverse reactions (A-type adverse reactions 2 cases, B-type adverse reactions 1 case, more than 23 cases of adverse reactions can not be determined type),105 cases of suspicious adverse reactions,28 cases of non-adverse. The occurrence of adverse reactions was 7.90%.26 cases of adverse reactions were reported gastrointestinal symptoms, including stomach symptoms reported in 13 cases,17 cases were reported intestinal symptoms. Two cases of ALT, AST increased at the same time, it is determined one case of adverse reactions, the patients with previous history of alcohol abuse. One patient reported a "sweet mouth" during the treatment. We also analyzed the physician medication considerations, including the amount of Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and compatibility. Conclusion:Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) adverse reactions in clinical applications focused on a common digestive system (such as stomach cold, diarrhea, bloating, etc.). Patients of the routine use of Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) are less likely to cause elevated transaminase. Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) adverse reactions in clinical applications have many factors, but individual differences.
