Objective Through observing the binocular visual function changes of horizontal strabismal young children before and after operation in visual sensitive period, to investigate the influence of early strabismus operation on binocular vision function reconstruction, and to provide theoretical basis for early strabismus operation. Methods The study selected patients who have received treatment in Qingdao Eye Hospital from January 2013 to September 2014, and the selecting criteria were as follow: 1-9 years old, no gender limitation, onset before 3 years old, horizontal strabismus, no amblyopia, no high hypermetropia and high myopia, no astigmatism or compound and mixed astigmatism<1.00 D, no eye movement limitation, no history of eye surgery and trauma, no systemic disease. Data of the study included axis oculi, corneal curvature, best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), eye position and function of extraocular muscles, the fundus photography and residual strabismus prismatic diopter. Data of postoperative binocular visual function: the first、second and distance stereoacuity function by synoptophor testing, the near stereoacuity function by Yan Shaoming’s random digital stereo vision inspection point. A total of N cases were included, and N cases excluded. According to the operation age, patients were divided into two groups, group 1: children of 1-3 age, group 2: children of 4-9 age. From three different types ofhorizontal strabismus(intermittent exotropia, constant exotropia, concomitant esotropia), Afterwards group A and B were respectively compared within group and between group. The data were analyzed with SPSS 17.0 software. Results A total of 170 cases received the relevant examination and whose data were included.(1)For intermittent exotropia children, the reconstruction rate of distance stereoacuity and near stereoacuity between group A and group B were statistically significant by multiple comparisons, the reconstruction rate of distance stereoacuity in group B was the lowest.(2)For constant exotropia children, the reconstruction rate of the second binocular vision、distance stereoacuity and near stereoacuity between group A and group B were statistically significant by multiple comparisons.(3)For concomitant esotropia children, the reconstruction rate of all binocular vision between group A and group B were statistically significant by multiple comparisons.(4)For horizontal strabismus young children operating in the sensitive period of visual development, the reconstruction rate of postoperative binocular visual function was ranked as follows: intermittent exotropia>concomitant esotropia, constant exotropia>concomitant esotropia. while the rate for the children operating in the mature period was intermittent exotropia>constant exotropia>concomitant esotropia.Conclusions(1)For horizontal strabismus young children onsetting in the sensitive period of visual development, early operation in sensitive period is more conducive to the recovery of binocular visual function after operation.(2)For the young children onsetting in the sensitive period of visual development, impact of concomitant esotropia on binocular vision maximum, especially on the second binocular vision、distance stereoacuity and near stereoacuity; then is constant exotropia; intermittent exotropia binocular minimum, the main performance is for the distant stereopsis damage.
