Background and ObjectiveThe gold standard surgical approach of inguinal hernia repair is TAPP and TEP.However, both the two methods may have a negative effect on male reproductive function. So we have designed and implemented a new approach called inguinal hernia repair avoiding spermaduct separation to solve the problem. In order to observe its clinical value and effect, we carry through the comparison of TEP and inguinal hernia repair avoiding spermaduct separation.MethodsExtract 68 inguinal hernia repair avoiding spermaduct separation cases from First Affiliated hospital of Soochow University whose hospitalization time is Between 2012.02 and 2015.02. Collect operation time, the postoperative hospital stay, postoperative pain and postoperative complications and compare the data of inguinal hernia repair avoiding spermaduct separation and TEP.ResultsThe TEP group had shorter operation time(59.26±23.50 min vs 85.18±14.60min), shorter postoperative hospitalization stay(1.30 ± 0.54 d vs 2.18 ± 0.52d) and less hospitalization expenses(11182.43±1038.59 yuan vs 11979.81±1550.24yuan) than the inguinal hernia repair avoiding spermaduct separation group, and the consequence showed statistically significant(P<0.01) between the two groups. There were no significant differences in complications like postoperative pain(1.5% vs 1.9%), seroma(2.9% vs 1.9%),hematoma(1.5% vs 1.9%), uroschesis(1.5% vs 1.9%), scrotum emphysema, spermatic cord injury, foreign body sensation, ileus and ejaculatory dysfunction between the two groups. There were no significant differences between reproductive function of preoperative patients and postoperative patients in the inguinal hernia repair avoiding spermaduct separation group. Recurrent cases were ont found.ConclusionsThere were no significant differences between TEP and inguinal hernia repair avoiding spermaduct separation in complications, recurrence rate and hospitalization expenses. Because the former didn’t need to separate hernial sac and spermaduct, it simplified the operation and protected spermaduct and spermatic cord vessel. Therefore, it possess some clinical application and further investigation significance.
