Objective:Serum adipokine, adipocyte-secreted protein, are known to play a important role in the progress of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in humans. Genetic variations in the adipokine gene have been reported in relation to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease (CAD), but few studies were performed in association with AAA. The present study set out to investigate the association between +276 G/T polymorphisms of the adiponectin gene,-420C/G polymorphisms of the resistin gene and AAA in Chinese population. Methods:A total of 155 AAA patients and 310 controls, comparable in age and gender, were recruited in this case-control study. DNA samples were genotyped for +276 G/T and -420C/G polymorphisms using the MassArray system. The association between the polymorphisms and AAAs was tested using multivariate logistic regression. Stratified analysis was also performed by clinical and laboratory features.Results:+276G/T and -420C/G have no association with the pathogenesis of the AAA.-420GG genotype was associated with the aortic diameters in AAA patients.-420GG genotype can increase the likelihood of large AAA after adjustment for potential confounding factors(Adjusted OR=5.84,95%CI 1.50-22.68;p=0.011). Besides,-420GG have a trend association with the small AAA after adjustment for smoking, drinking and some other risk factors (Adjusted OR=3.61, 95% CI 0.99-13.16; P=0.052).Conclusion:+276G/T and -420C/G were not associated with the presence of AAA.-420GG genotype may play an important role in the development of AAA. Further study will be necessary to confirm the result.
