The Treatment Of Patients With Pulmonary Bullae Complication With Spontaneous Pneumothrax By Either Thoracoscope Or Traditional Thoracotomy:Acomparative Study | | Posted on:2016-12-11 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:K Y Bi | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2284330461982127 | Subject:Biological engineering | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | Objective:To compare the therapeutic effect between the treatment through thoracoscope and treatment through traditional thoracotomy for patients with pulmonary bullae complication with spontaneous pneumothorax. Methods and patients:136 patients with pulmonary bullae complication with spontaneous pneumothorax administrated into Nei Mongal Baogang 3rd Hospital between March 2001 and October 2014 were divided into 2 groups.76 of the 136 patients were enrolled into the first group and treated with thoracoscope. The other 60 of the 136 patients were enrolled into the second group and treated with traditional thoracotomy. Following indexes were taken from each patient in both groups to evaluate the therapeutic effect:overall time used for surgery operation, time needed for post-operation intrathoracic drainage, number of days for antibiotic needed, overall time for patient being hospitalized, cost for the surgery operation. Also the following index were taken from both groups:number of patients who needed analgesicdrug, post-operative complications rate and post-operative recurrence rate. Results:All surgery operations for these 136 patients were successfully finished. No patients ever experienced perioperative death. All patients got cured and discharged from the hospital in the expected time frame. Patients from the thoracoscope group felt less pain and needed less analgesicdrug and antibiotic than patients from the traditional thoracotomy group (p<0.05). The thoracoscope group also needed less time for surgery operation, less time for post-operation intrathoracic drainage and less time being hospitalized after surgery operation than the traditional thoracotomy group. But the overall cost from traditional thoracotomy group was significantly lower than that from thoracoscope group (p<0.05).Conclusion:Both the two different treatments for patients with pulmonary bullae complication with spontaneous pneumothorax were safe and effective. Patients treated with thoracoscope experienced relative less pain and needed less antibiotic and analgesicdrug than patients treated with traditional thoracotomy. But the cost for patients treated with traditional thoracotomy was much lower than that for patients treated with thoracoscope. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Video-assisted thoracoscope, traditional thoracotomy, pulmonary bullae, spontaneous pneumothorax, surgery, treatment | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
