ObjectivesThis study is about assessing the safety and the effect of compatibility of Aconite and Pinellia on malignant neoplasm patients.MethodsAccording to the inclusive criteria, the type of yang-deficiency and retention of phlegm and fluid cancer patients were include into the study. With their consent, we will give them Chinese medicine that includes Aconite and Pinellia. They will complete the examination of the electrocardiogram, cardiac enzymes, liver function, kidney function, blood clotting function and electrolytes at the beginning and the end of the study, which will be used to assess the safety. We observe the effects by evaluating the state of tumor through the imaging test and the tumor markers. QLQ-C30 and KPS will be used to evaluate the influence to the quality of their lives. Besides, we will also observe the change of yang-deficiency’s symptom and physical sign before and after the therapy.ResultFrom 2014 Jan 1st to 2015 Jan 1st, there were 51 patients accepting the research, inclding 25 males and 26 females. All of the doses are over the pharmacopoeia requirements. During the treatment, there are 16 patients experiencing a variety of uncomfortable symptoms, including dizziness, numb, vomit, diarrhea and etc. No patient died during the research. In the terms of ECG, heart enzymes, liver function, kidney function, blood coagulation, electrolytes, both in comparative terms mean and the value normal or aspect, the results suggest that the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05).In terms of radiographic, there were 28 patients rescanned CT/MRI, the results suggest that 24 patients with tumors were in SD (85.7%),1 patient was PR (3.6%). In terms of tumor markers, there were 25 patients reviewed the tumor markers and the results suggest that there were 12 patients, tumor markers (48.0%) in stable situation,5 decreased cases (20.0%). After taking the medicine, there were more than half patients being stable or in better condiction. In the term of the KPS fraction, the results suggest significant difference of the fraction that measured at the beginning and the end of the study. To the quality of life, in addition to nausea and vomiting, the rest sections all have significant difference and the situation improved after treatment. In the term of the Yang-deficiency symptoms and signs, most of the patients’condition were improved after taking the medicine, among whom the chills accounted for 88.3%, the face edema accounted for 74.5%, the nocturia accounted for 78.4%, the cough and expectoration accounted for 84.4% and the stool pulpy case accounted for 62.8%. In addition to the Yang-deficiency tongue and pulse does not exceed 50% and the rest section are all accounted for more than 50%. To the nail situation, most of the patients improved after the treatment.ConclusionThrough the research, we may know that the Chinese medicine containing the compatibility of Aconite and Pinellia may not have significant toxicity and they may even delay the tumor progression and improve the quality of patients’life and the Yang-deficiency situation.
