The Study On The Risk Factors Of Leukemia And The Tendency Of Hospitalization Expenses

ObjectiveA case control-study was conducted on the leukemia patients in the First Hospital of Lanzhou University from January 2013 to August 2014 to identify the risk factors of leukemia. The hospitalization expenses of leukemia patients from 2003 to 2013 were collected to analyze the component and the tendency for the hospitalization expenses. This research aims at providing scientific evidence for prevention and control of leukemia.Methods1. By children 1:3 and adult 1:1 case-control study,31 cases of childhood leukemia and 136 cases of adult leukemia were chosen. According to the cases with the same gender, age (±1), nation and residential district, randomly selects patients for control. The significant variables were identified by single factor analysis. Then multi-factors conditional logistic regression analysis was conducted and final main risk factors were found.2. To analyze the component and the tendency of the hospitalization expenses of leukemia.Results1. The single factor logistic regression analysis of the childhood leukemia suggest that in children’s own factors, period of breastfeeding, dressing have statistical significance. In maternal factors, maternal education, maternal occupation, drinking, hair dye, number of pregnancy, medication history before pregnancy half an year, cold during pregnancy and the parity have statistical significance. In paternal factors, paternal education, drinking have statistical significance. In environmental factors, household decoration, the time for housing after house decoration, smell of house and place of residence near high-voltage substation have statistical significance. In other factors, the monthly income of family and method of delivery have statistical significance. The monthly income of family, method of delivery, period of breastfeeding, maternal education, maternal occupation, cold during pregnancy, medication history before pregnancy half an year, household decoration, the time for housing after house decoration and place of residence near high-voltage substation are identified by Multivariate logistic regression modified.2. Water, household decoration, the time for housing after house decoration and place of residence near gas station are identified by Multivariate logistic regression modified.3. The top three main single expend of hospitalization in leukemia are respectively medicine, examination and blood transfusion. Compared with adult, the changing trends of hospitalization cost in childhood leukemia is more obvious.ConclusionsEnvironmental factor is one of the most important risk factor for leukemia. The hospitalization cost has a tendency to increase and the top of hospitalization expenses in leukemia is medicine. The health policies which were issued by Gansu province will reduce the economical burden on patients.
