Objective:To investigate the effects of Smilax china on fibrosis level of experimental liver fibrosis in rats and provide experimental basis for clinical treatment of chronic liver disease.Methods:Male and female half 80 rats were separated into five groups:normal mode group, control mode group, Smilax china high group, median group, low dose group. All rats except those in the normal groups were given intraperitoneal injection of 40% carbon tetrachloride(once every 3 days for 11 weeks).7weeks later, rats in the treatment group were also given Smilax china at 1g/(kg. d),2g/(kg. d),4g/(kg. d) daily for 30 days via gastrogavage.At the end of the treatment,liver function, the levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), laminin(LN), precollagen Ⅲ(PCⅢ) in serum and collagen-Ⅳ(Ⅳ-C)were detected, the pathohistological changes were observed under light microscope and by methods of Hematine-eosin and Method of Masson.Results:Compared with normal control groups, the activity of ALT,AST, TBIL of the model group were higher significantly (P<0.05) and the level of ALB of the model groups were lower(P<0.05).The level of model group of HA, LA,PCⅢ,Ⅳ-C were increased(P<0.05). Compared with model group, after treated with Smilax china the activity of ALT, AST,TBIL were decreased(P<0.05), the level of ALB were increased (P< 0.05).The level of HA, LA,PCⅢ,Ⅳ-C were decreased(P<0.05).Compared with low group, the activity of ALT,AST, TBIL of the high and middle doses were decreased(P<0.05), the level of ALB were increased(P< 0.05).The level of HA, LA,PCⅢ,Ⅳ-C of high and middle doses were decreased(P< 0.05). Compared with middle group, the activity of ALT,AST,TBIL of the high dose were decreased(P<0.05),and the level of ALB were increased(P<0.05).The level of HA, LA,PCⅢ,Ⅳ-C of high dose were decreased (P<0.05).The treatment groups of ALT,AST,TBIL, ALB were not indiscriminate (P<0.05).The treatment groups of HA, LA,PCⅢ,Ⅳ-C were different(p<0.05), especially in high dose group improved obviously. HE and Masson showed that the lesion of liver in Smilax china treated groups were more mitigated than model group, and the degree of liver fibrosis were also lesser,especially in high dose group improved obviously.Conclusions:1. Smilax china can to improve the function and reduce liver of inflammation of rats of liver of liver fibrosis caused by CCL4, especially in high dose group improved obviously. To a certain extent, Smilax china can greatly protect the liver of rats.2.Smilax china can reduce hepatic fibrosis indexes and the sedimentary of extracellular matrix in the liver, especially in high dose group improved obviously. To a certain extent, Smilax china can be inhibition of liver fibrosis formation.3.The pathological histology show that Smilax china can reduce the degree of hepatic fibrosis.
