Objective: To do research on the effect of different doses of atorvastatin on PTX-3 of the elderly with unstable angina.Method: 60 cases with unstable angina in Geriatrics and Cardiology Departments of Chengde Center Hospital from December 2013 to February 2014 have been retrospectively analyzed, which have been divided into three groups, that is, atorvastatin 20mg/d(Group A),atorvastatin 80mg/d(Group B) and selecting 20 healthy persons coming to the Health Examination Center for the physical examination in corresponding period as the normal control group(Group C). To test the PTX-3,the routine urine test, the routine blood test, the renal function, the liver function, the myocardial enzymogram, TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C and the blood sugar before dosing, after dosing for a month and dosing for three months respectively, and make statistical analysis of the occurrence of the patients with cardiac events.Result: The general aspects( age, genre, smoking, blood glucose, heart function, blood lipid,PTX-3 and previous coronary angiography and stent implantation) and other aspects of the subjects of Group A and Group B have no statistical significance before the medication(P>0.05). The level of blood lipid and PTX-3 of Group A and Group B are higher than that of the normal control group(Group C) and the difference has the statistical significance(P<0.05).The level of PTX-3: The level of PTX-3 of Group A and Group B after one month’s medication and after three months’ medication has decreased evidently and the level of PTX-3 decreased more remarkably than that of Group A. The difference has the statistical significance(P<0.05),while those of Group A and Group B are still higher than the level of PTX-3 of normal control group(Group C).The level of TC: After three months’ medication, the level of TC of the patients of Group B was decreased remarkably and that of the patients of Group A has the significant reduction, and there has been distinctive differences between the two groups,P<0.05.The level of TG: After three months’ medication, the level of TG of the patients of Group B was decreased remarkably and that of the patients of Group A has the significant reduction, and there is the difference between the two groups, P<0.05.The level of HDL-C: After three months’ medication, the level of HDL-C of the patients of Group B went up to a certain extent, and that of Group A increased, and the difference was statistically significant. There are significant differences between the two groups,P<0.05. The difference was statistically significant. The level of LDL-C: After three months’ medication, the level of LDL-C of the patients of Group A and Group B dropped significantly, and there is the significant difference between the two groups,P<0.05.To do an examination on the patients of the two groups after three months and inquire as well as make a record of the related occurrence of the adverse reactions. There is one case of the elevation of transaminase, two cases of the elevation of CK-MB,one case of mouth dryness, one case of rash and two cases of gallbladder pain in Group A. There are two cases of the elevation of transaminase, three cases of the elevation of CK,one case of mouth dryness and four cases of gallbladder pain in Group B. The difference of the incidence rate of the side reactions of the patients from Group A and Group B has no statistically significance,P > 0.05. After the treatment for three months, there are six cases of angina and one case of myocardial infarction and the incidence rate is 23.3%; while the incidence rate of the three cases with angina of Group B is 10%. The patients of Group A and Group B were gradually relieved through continuous medication or symptomatic treatment. Comparing the incidence of cardio-cerebral events between Group A and Group B,P<0.05, which has no statistically significance. Conclusion: Giving the sufficient dose of atorvastatin can effectively reduce the level of PTX-3 in view of the elderly patients with unstable angina. At the same time, the level of blood liquid dropped significantly. Atorvastatin has been well tolerated and has fewer side effects, which is suitable for long-term use and can effectively improve the prognosis and reduce the risk of cardio-cerebral events of the patients; therefore,it is worthy to recommend its clinical use.
