Objective:To investigate the correlation of serum C-reactive protein(CRP) level and nutritional status in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis patients. Methods:This study included 40 continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis(CAPD)patients who were followed-up in our hospital. To determine the serum levels of C-reactive protein(CRP) by immunoturbidimetry, and determine hemoglobin(Hb), triglyceride(TG), cholesterol(Tch), serum-creatinine(Scr), albumin(Alb) by automatic biochemical anatyzer. These patients were divided into elevated CRP group(CRP>8mg/L) and normal CRP group(CRP≤8mg/L).To contrast that nutritional status have or not difference between two group. The correlation between CRP and nutritional indexs were analyzed. Results:Hb and Alb in elevated CRP group(CRP>8mg/L) were lower than that in normal CRP group(CRP≤8mg/L) significantly(P<0. 05). No obviously difference in the levels of the blood triglyceride(TG), cholesterol(Tch) and serumcreatinine(Scr)(P>0.05). There were negative relationship between CRP and hemoglobin, albumin(P<0. 05). There was no correlation between the levels of the CRP and the blood triglyceride(TG), cholesterol(Tch) and serum-creatinine(Scr)(P>0.05). Conclusion:50% of peritoneal dialysis patients in the study of c-reactive protein levels higher than normal,so peritoneal dialysis patients have the inflammatory state. C-reactive protein is produced when liver inflammation stimulation, participate in local or systemic inflammatory response. It can reflect the degree of activity of the patient’s body inflammation. C-reactive protein is a sign that the body exists cytokine activation, and is a micro inflammation state objective and sensitive index. Results showed that nutrition index of elevated c-reactive protein group are bader than the normal group. Also shows that c-reactive protein and nutrition index was significantly negative correlation. So the c-reactive protein can reflect the nutritional status of the peritoneal dialysis patients.
