Clinical Study On The Effect Of Compound Red Vines Syrup For Dampness-heat Syndrome In Sequelae Of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Objective Sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease(PID) are often due to not in time and complete treatment, poor physique of the patients, illness delay. It is characteristic of dampness-heat. Compound red vines syrup(CRV) is a prescription that has been applied in the clinical settings for several years with significant effect. Our study is designed to verify the Compound red vines syrup prescription ’ s effectiveness and potential action mechanism for dampness-heat PID with more clinical cases.Method60 patients from Taihe TCM hospital were selected between Feb.2014 to Dec. 2014,including out-patients. The 60 patients were divided into two groups, the treatment and control group, with each group having 30 patients. The treatment group was prescribed with CRV in our study. The patients were asked to take 40 ml once and three times one day in the following 20 days after menstruation. The control group was prescribed with Kang Fu Ling capsule. The patients were asked to take 3 once and three times one day in the following 20 days after menstruation. We will evaluate its clinical effectiveness in terms of TCM symptoms, local signs, combined with life quality and hemorrheology factors.Results1. The comprehensive effectiveness for the treatment and control group is 96.67% and93.33% separately. The difference is significant from Ridit analysis with p-value less than 0.05. The TCM symptoms effectiveness for the treatment and control group is96.67 and 93.33% seperately. The difference is also significant from Ridit analysis with p-value less than 0.05. The difference of the effectiveness of local signs between the two groups is not significant with P-value large than 0.05 from Ridit analysis. However,from the χ2-test for the overall effectiveness, there are not significant for the above three indices between treatment group and control group. The results demonstrated theCRV is superior to Kang Fu Ling capsule in terms of comprehensive and TCM symptoms effectiveness, but with the comparable effectiveness in term of local signs.2. As for the quality of life improvement, from the t-test we can see, the quality of life before treatment between the two groups is not significant with p-value large than 0.05,the same for after treatment case. However, both of the improvements with treatment are significant for the two groups. The results demonstrate their comparable effectiveness in quality of life improvement.3. As for the hemorrheology factors in terms of high-shear blood viscosity, low-shear viscosity, plasma viscosity, RBC, blood sedimentation. From the t-test we can see,the hemorrheology factors before treatment between the two groups are not significant different with p-value large than 0.05, the same for after treatment case. However, both of the improvements in terms of all hemorrheology factors with treatment are significant for the two groups. The results demonstrate their comparable effectiveness in quality of life improvement.Conclusion From above analysis we can see, both treatment and control group works well in improving the comprehensive symptoms, TCM symptoms, local signs,hemorrheology factors and life quality. The treatment group is superior to the control group in comprehensive symptoms, TCM symptoms and life quality, while comparable to control group in local signs and hemorrheology factors.1. Dampness-heat is the common syndrome of sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease(PID). An effective prescription can improve its symptoms in terms of TCM symptoms,local signs, combined with life quality and hemorrheology factors. CRV is superior to Kangfuling capsule in improving comprehensive and TCM symptoms.2. CRV is superior to kangfuling capsule in improving quality of life.3. The treatment can improve the pelvic blood circulation from the hemorrheology factors analysis.4. CRV has little side effects in clinical application.
