Objective To compare the short-term outcomes and complications between lapar oscopic surgery and traditional open surgery in distal gastrectomy of elderly pati ents with gastric cancer(GC). Methods The clinical data of 82 cases of distal gastrectomy whose ages were 60 years or more from January 2013 to January 2014 in The AnHui Provincial Hospital were retrospectively analyzed, including laparoscopic surgery(n=24) and traditional open surgery(n=68).The blood loss, operation time, the number of di ssected lymph nodes, the distance of proximal and distal resection margin, first p ostoperative exhaust time, Postoperative hospital stay, the complications are comp ared. Results No significant difference was observed in terms of operation time, the number of dissected lymph nodes, the distance of resection margin and overall i ncidence of complications between laparoscopic and open surgery. While Laparos copy gastrectomy has advantages in less intraoperative blood loss, shorter Postop erative hospital stay and exhaust time. Conclusion LRDG(laparoscopy-assisted distal gastrectomy) is superior to traditio nal open surgery in the short-term outcomes, while don’t add the occurrence in postoperative complications. Therefore LRDG is suiter for GC of elderly patients.
