| Objective:Through clinical observations of CT scoring, arterial blood analysis results, Chinese Medicine symptom score, safety evaluation of the patients before and after treatment, evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of vital energy deficiency and blood stasis patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) by applying Chinese medicine decoction combined with glucocorticoid. Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is an agnogenic, progressive disease confined to pulmonary fibrosis, featured with fibrosis honeycomb changes. The main clinical symptoms are difficulty in breathing, cough and expectoration, weight loss, fatigue, etc. Common signs are dyspnea and cyanosis, chest expansion and diaphragm activity decreased, Velcro rales in both lower lungs, clubbing, end-stage respiratory failure and right heart failure symptoms. The incidence rate of IPF increased in the recent 20 years. With lack of proper treatment, there is no comparatively mature and commonly recognized treatment neither in Traditional Chinese Traditional Medicine nor in Western Medicine. In March 2011, American Thoracic Society (AYS)〠European Respiratory Society (ERS)ã€Japan Respiratory Society (JRS) and Latin American Thoracic Association (ALAT) have jointly formulated the evidence-based diagnosis and treatment guidelines of IPF which indicates that except lung transplantation, there is no effect drug in IPF treatment. In recent years, with the publication of RCT clinical research results, some new drugs are further confirmed to have delaying effects in the treatment of IPF patients. However, these drugs can only slow down the descent rate of function decline of lungs. They can’t stop the progress of IPF, needless to say recovery. What’s more, the conclusion is drawn from a specific population. It’s not clear whether it is suitable for all IPF patients. More clinical verification in the future is required. At the same time, many studies indicate the treatment of Chinese Medicine combined with Western Medicine is more effective in the treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis than Chinese Medicine combined or Western Medicine alone. Chinese Medicine has no obvious side effects, lower cost which reduces the economic burden of the patients. It has drawn more and more attention of both domestic and oversea medical community. Methods:According to the inclusion criteria,50 idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) patients from Lung Disease Department of Affiliated TMC Hospital of Luzhou Medical College are selected and randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 25 cases in each group. Both treatment group and the control group are given prednisone per os with dose gradually decreases. At the same time, the treatment group are given lung-benefiting, blood-nourishing, phlegm-reducing Prescription (Radix Astragali 20g, Radix Glehniae 20g, Ligusticum Wallichii 15g, Angelica 15g,Ophiopogon Japonicus 12g, Schisandra Chinensis 12g, dried Tangerine peel 12g, Pinellia tuber 12g, dried Rehmannia root 15g, honey-fried Licorice root 5g), one dose daily, a course of 40 days. Observe the CT scoring, arterial blood analysis results, TCM symptom score changes of the patients before and after treatment, make complete and systematic analysis by using SPSS 13.0 statistical software, explore the effects of Chinese Medicine combined with Western Medicine in the treatment of IPF.Results:In this study, TCM symptom relief in the treatment group excels the controlled group (P<0.05), arterial and oxygen pressure increment in the treatment group excels the controlled group (P<0.05), abnormal image changes and improvement in chest CT in the treatment group excels the controlled group (P<0.05). The difference is statistically significant. Conclusion:The theoretical research of Chinese Medicine combined with Western Medicine is deepening. Compared with the poor therapeutic effects of IPF, the treatment of Chinese Medicine combined with Western Medicine is a new method. It has more curative effects than applying glucocorticoids alone without significant side effects. It’s more safe and can be used as a clinical drug. |
