Objective:To study the opportunity of vitrectomy for Eales disease with the initial symptom of severe vitreous hemorrhage.Providing reference for the opportunity of operation and the necessity of surgical treatment. Methods:Retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 28 cases and 28 eyes that were diagnosed with Eales disease as the first symptom to vitreous hemorrhage. These clinical data were divided into two groups according to the timing of operation. Group A included 13 cases (13 eyes) which accepted surgical treatment in 4 weeks to 8 weeks after the first symptom apparently. Group B included 15 cases (15 eyes) which accepted surgical treatment in 8 weeks to 12 weeks. Follow up 3 to 6 months, analyzing the operation difficulty, postoperative visual acuity, postoperative complications. Results:There were 11 cases(84.6%) that the postoperative visual acuity were improved in group A, the best corrected visual acuity in 0.1-0.3 were 6 cases, above 0.3 were 5 cases. There were 10 cases(66.7%) that the postoperative visual acuity were improved in group B, the best corrected visual acuity in 0.1-0.3 were 7 cases, above 0.3 were 3 cases.1 patient in group A bleeded again, the hemorrhage was absorbed after drug treatment. There were 2 cases who appeared retinal detachment,1 case who recurrent bleeding, and 3 cases appeared temporary high intraocular pressure. The intraocular pressure was controled by drug in 3 to 5 days. Conclusion:Early surgical treatment is beneficial to the postoperative visual acuity for Eales disease with the initial symptom of severe vitreous hemorrhage. It was good to reduce the operation difficulty and reduce postoperative complications. Early surgical treatment helped to find the cause of vitreous hemorrhage. It was important to the prognosis of this disease. |
