Objective To analysis the clinical characteristics of patients with cutaneous malignant melanoma were collected, in order to understand the epidemiological characteristics and prognosis related factors.Patients and Methods The clinicopathological data from the patients with cutaneous malignant melanoma treated in Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Guangxi Medical University between January 2008 to January 2008 were retrospectively reviewed, and the survival was observed. Using SPSS 18.0 statistical software for analysis, the survival curves were calculated by Kaplan-Meier method, multivariate analysis of survival using Cox regression. Results A total of 73 cases of cutaneous malignant melanoma were identified and reviewed. There were 42 male,31 female, male-to-female ratio was 1:1.46. The median age at diagnosis was 55 years. Lower limb was the most common site (67.1%).58.9% of patients with a history of pigmented nevus.43.8% of patients had definitive in their ulceration. The proportion of patients with different stages as follows:to begin with Ⅰ~Ⅱ period 37%, Ⅲ period by 41.1%,21.9% Ⅳ period. The median survival time in stage Ⅰ~Ⅱ,Ⅲ and IV patients was 45.0,30.0 and 13.0 months, respectively.21.9% of the patients at the higher serum lactate dehydrogenase levels. The mainstay of therapy for mucosal melanoma was still surgery. Prognosis of single factor analysis showed that patients’ age, ulceration, serum lactate dehydrogenase levels, clinical stage, the operation and the prognosis of patients with correlation (P<0.05). Multi-factor analysis results show that the patients age, ulceration, serum lactate dehydrogenase levels and clinical staging for independent prognostic factors for overall survival time. Conclusion Lower limb was the most common primary site of cutaneous malignant melanoma. Cutaneous malignant melanoma patients with poor prognosis, the patients age, primary lesion, serum lactate dehydrogenase levels and clinical staging for independent prognostic factors for overall survival time.
