Objective: Malignant melanoma is a type of disease which derived from skin andother organs melanocytes, also with poor prognosis and ethnic disparity. We investigatethe clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of80cases with malignant melanoma. It will provide theoretical basis for dignosis and clinical treatment of Chinese patientswith malignant melanoma. Methods: We collected clinical features of80cases with malignant melanoma, who were treated in our center from January2002to December2008. SPSS17.0statistical software was used for statistical analysis, and p-value less than0.05wereconsidered significant. Postoperative survival period analysis were computed by theKaplan-Meier method and compared by the Log-rank test. The prognostic relevance ofthe indicators and conventional prognostic factors were analyzed by COX regressionmodel.Result:1. From January2002to December2008, the morbidity of malignant melanoma inthis region increases steadily year by year.2. The proportion of histological types in80cases: ALM39cases (48.8%),MCM39cases(25.0%),NM13cases(6.2%),SSM8cases(10.0%). The proportion of sites of theprimary tumor: Palmoplantar/Subungual48.8%(39cases),Upper/Lowerlimb9cases(11.3%),Trunk7cases(8.8%),Headandneck5cases(6.3%),Mucosal20cases(25.0%).65.0%of the60cases Cutaneous Malignant Melanoma present ulceration.3. The median survival time of all patients was30.4months.The1-year,2-year,3-year overall survival rate of all80cases was83.1%、47.5%、28.8%,respectively.Histological type, Origin site, Clinical staging and presence of ulceration werecorrelated with the prognosis of malignant melanoma. The COX regression demonstrated the ulceration and clinical stage were the independent prognosticindicators.Conclusion:1. The patients of malignant melanoma in this region increases steadily year byyear.2. In this region, the male slightly more than the female with malignantmelanoma diagnosed, the high incidence in all of patients、the male、the female was50~59、50~79、50~59years.Ⅰ+Ⅱ+Ⅲstages more than Ⅳstages.3. In this region, the most common pathological subtype of malignant melanomadiagnosed is ALM, the most common site of the primary tumor is extremities. The caseswith ulceration have a high incidence in cutaneous malignant melanoma.4. Histological type, Origin site, Clinical staging and presence of ulceration werecorrelated with the prognosis of malignant melanoma. Clinical stage and presence ofulceration were the independent prognostic indicators.
