Objective:To explore the clinical outcome of surgical therapy for upper and middle thoracic tumors treatment through the midaxillary line anocelia approach.Methods:1.7 patients with thoracic tumor were selected from February 2012 to December 2014 in our hospital. Pathological spines change from T2 to T6. There are 4 men and 3 women aging 9 to 77 year-old, with the average age of (39.29±22.49) years old. All patients had various degree of chest pain in their back and chest numbness below.7 patients underwent one-stage debridement and bone grafting with internal fixation via axillary midline through chest. Chest and back pain was classify by visual analogue scale (VAS), Nerve function classification with Frankel score. Observe and record length of incisions, surgical field exposure, surgical blood loss, duration of surgery, nerve decompression, pleural effusion drainage and postoperative complications, at the same time we recorded preoperative and postoperative follow-up of Frankel score, VAS score. The patients were followed up for 2 to 27 months after surgery.2. Using SPSS21.0 statistical software to deal with the collected data. When testing data normality, set the statistically significant a=0.1, When p>0.1 it means data to conform to normal distribution. Remaining data standard statistical comparison test for a=0.05, When p<0.05 it means the two sets of data had statistically difference. Analyze the healing effect of treating thoracic spinal tumors in this surgical approach. Results:The upper middle thoracic vertebral exposure, lesion resection, the completion of interbody graft implant fixation bone fusion and titanium mesh titanium board could be achieved in all the patients. The VAS scores and Frankel neural function grading were improved significantly after operation (P<0.05).Conclusion:The axillary midline incision thoracic approach can achieve the goal of clearing lesion, decompression bone graft fixation for treatment of upper and middle thoracic spinal tumors, and obtain good curative effect. Because of the special anatomic structure of upper thoracic, the approach via axillary midline through anocelia has certain advantage when treating upper and middle thoracic spinal tumors.
