| Objective: To explore the sexual life of cognition and attitude using in-depth interviews with patients after breast cancer treatment. This provides a basis for medical workers to know sexual psychology course and develop intervention strategy.Methods: In this study, the phenomenological methodology was taken to analyze different cases. Adopt purposive sampling method to choose patients with breast cancer after breast cancer treatment.Collect the influenceing factors of disease on sexual life, the feelings of patients, the opinions of recovering sexual life by applying an in-depth,semi-structured interview, observation, recording. The process of each interview was recorded by audio recording system.And 10 subjects were enrolled in the study.Results:1 After patients were diagnosed with breast cancer and after initial trea- tment, a number of the patients with her husbands restart to have sex. Some patients are in the passive choice in order to maintain relationships. Another patients are in the confliction and contradiction.There are three main subjects on conditions of sexual life with patients after breast cancer treatment.2 Subject 1:Cognition of recovering sexual life2.1 Scientific information source about sexual life information is from promotional literature, medical websites, medical books. This objective information is helpful for recovering sexual life.2.2 Without fact-based information source is based on traditional Chinese culture. This information delays recovering sexual life, or even causing asexual life.3 Subject 2: Changes of sex psychology3.1 Inferiority:Inferiority complex is widespread in every breast cancer patient. It is a side effect of treatment.3.2 Guilt and Self-accusation: All 10 respondents have normal sexual life. The demands of sex are not satisfied during therapy. 5 patients are guilty for their husbands, and passive.3.3 Understanding:By effective communication 3 of couples maintain tolerant and considerate attitudes on sexual life.3.4 Anger and Frustration: in unstable marriage, the sexual relationship breaks up after the diagnosis and therapy.4 Subject 3: Changes of sexual physiology4.1 Decreased libido:The demand for sexual requirements is slower with age. On the other hand, because of chemotherapy, early menopause decreases libido.4.2 Dyspareunia: decreased vaginal secretions and vaginal dryness are the main reasons for dyspareunia.4.3 Decreased frequency of sexual life: the desire of life is higher than the desire of sexual life for breast cancer patients. Decreased sexual satisfac- tion leads to lower desire of sexual life.Conclusions:1 The breast cancer patients end sexual life after diagnosis. As the initial treatment ends,patients will gradually start recovering sexual life. Mutual ada ptation,compromise and compliance, confliction and contradiction are three lifestyles during this process.2 During this study,the sexual attitude of female patients looks more conservative,the understanding of sex is lagging.This provides a basis for medical workers to know sexual psychology course and develop intervention strategy. It is expected that the couples restore harmonious sexual life. And help patients going back to home and society as soon as possible. |
