Observation Of White Crane Spreads Its Wings On Ankylosing Spondylitis

Objective:With "the White Crane(Goose) Spreads Its Wings" and the conventional drug treatment on ankylosing spondylitis (AS), this study discussed the clinical efficacy of AS by observing the change in patients with VAS, BASDAI index, BASFI index, spinal mobility recovery, ESR, CRP, clinical symptoms of TCM.Method:86 patients with AS were collected and divided into two groups, namely A and B by the method of random number table. The A group was given the conventional drug treatment, while B group with Tai Chi White Crane Spreads Its Wings in addition. The data of VAS score, BASDAI index, BASFI index, spinal mobility recovery, changes of ESR, CRP, clinical symptoms of TCM and its clinical efficacy would be observed in patients with AS after 2 months of treatment.Result:1.The clinical trials are completed, with 86 patients included and no one loss. It’s comparable for the two groups (43 cases each) in the data of VAS score, BASDAI index, BASFI index, spinal mobility recovery, changes of ESR, CRP, clinical symptoms of TCM and its clinical efficacy before the treatment, for they are basically consistent.2.After 2 months study, the statistical analysis results are as follows: ①VAS score, BASDAI index, BASFI index scores and spinal mobility:The two groups, after the treatment all have statistically differences compared with that before the treatment (P<0.05); Also there is significant difference between two groups after the treatment(P<0.05).(2)ESR,CRP:The two groups, after the treatment both have statistically difference compared with that before the treatment (P<0.05); While there is no significant difference between two groups after the treatment(P>0.05). ③Clinical efficiency:The total efficiency of A group is 62.79%, B 83.72%, there was significant difference between two groups (χ2=4.807, P=0.028, P<0.05).④Clinical symptoms of TCM:The two groups, after the treatment all have statistically differences compared with that before the treatment (P<0.05); Also There is significant difference between the two groups after the treatment in the lumbosacral spine pain, morning stiffness time, heaviness in the body, soreness and weakness of waist and knees(P< 0.05).Conclusion:A certain clinical curative effect can be seen by using "White Crane Spreads Its Wings" combined with conventional drugs in the treatment of AS, which has a significantly higher total efficiency than that of conventional drug therapy in group A. It has a improvement in treating patients with AS with VAS score, BASDAI index, BASFI index, spinal mobility recovery and TCM clinical symptoms. As a result, Tai Chi White Crane Spreads Its Wings should be used as rehabilitation exercise in the clinical treating of AS to improve the clinical symptoms and the life quality.
